Honestly, despite all the hate for Alienware, I'd say the Alienware 17 laptop is a good choice for your budget.

Their strongest Alienware 17 model is $2299, and it has an awesome battery with 16GB of RAM. It will run those games you mentioned without a problem.

asus g750 jm. Its $1300 and gives i7 4700 and gtx 860m. Laptop is big and weighs 10lbs, but offers exceptional cooling, and great performance. Battery life and keyboard are also top notch. They also offer a js series with gtx 870m for $1750. You'll gain some additional fps, but for cad the difference is negligable and really not worth the extra $400. Offers 2x 2.5" hhd bays in which throw ina samsung evo 256-512gb ssd and you'll be set. Thats what i did, and i use for cad, photoshop, sony vegas, blender, and maya.

The msi gt 70 dominator is also an option. Will give a next step up gpu wise, but single fan will run hotter and louder. In which rendering puts cpu at 100% and things heat up quickly.

As for slim, the msi gs ghost is 15-17", offers i7 and 870m for about $1800. Weighs about 5 lbs, gets lower battery life, and runs even hotter since its in such a slim enclosure. Which rendering makes a huge difference.

well the msi is yes, my second best. the asus g750 (i currently own the js model) offers great cooling, awesome performance, the best keyboard ive ever used on a laptop. And depending on what your doing on it, i can get 3-6 hours easy. usually average around 4.5-5hrs.

Samsung 840 evo is a brand and model of a solid state harddrive. Mechanical hard drives that normally come with laptops are 5400rmp or 7200rpm. and transfer speeds around 100mbps, and use between 5-8w. Solid state hard drives have no moving parts, transfer speeds around 500-550mbps, and use between .02-1w. So you gain an extra 30-60 min of battery, windows boots in 20 seconds and its just one of the biggest performance noticing things you can do to a laptop. And for laptops, mechanical hard drives are disks that spin, so if laptop falls or you move it around while the drive is spinning you risk the disk getting scratched and ruining it. Solid states have no moving parts, and you can play baseball with your laptop (wouldnt recomend it) and wouldnt risk ruining your hard drive. samsung evo and pro are the top two best solid states. the pro is a little better but price point the evo is the best and still offers exceptional performance.

No, the Samsung evo is an additional purchase. For the price, size, speed, and reviews it is the best ssd to get right now. Cheap as the cheap drives, yet performs like the expensive ones. I'd recommend a 256gb if you can $150, if not a 128gb $100 should work. Just remember windows take up a chunk. And still keep the regular large mechanical to store files/games/ect on, leave the ssd for windows and programs.
Both the msi and asus offer 2 hhd bays. So just stick the Samsung in the empty one, and clone your orginal hhd to the ssd then.

As for msi and asus. Both are great.

MSI - gives you more for the money, 15 and 17" options, and customizable keyboard.

Asus - still gives your great performance for the money, 17" option, better battery, superb cooling, better quality laptop and keyboard, less fan noise, less heat being pumped from the fans for that matter.

Both are great. I tried both, asus was best out of the two. Yes the msi gave better performance, but heat/fan noise became issue, and overall asus is just a better quality laptop, so personally chose a small performance hit for better laptop. But im not saying the asus cant perform, oh no, im just saying at $1400 asus gets you 860m but msi gets you 870m. For $1800 (route I went) asus gives 870m and 256gb ssd msi gives you 880m.

ok last but not least,if rendering takes about 30 hours for rendering on this shit im on toshiba satellite something, how much would it take on the asus g750 rog jx with samsung evo?

Honestly there is no real calculator when it comes to rendering as I know of. Desktop rigs can render between 10-30 minutes for large videos - so maybe around 1 hour? as a guess? If you're uploading to youtube I would advise fiddling with the output type to something a bit more compressed in 720p (i'm a noob - did it a few times so don't take this too seriously)

dont know time wise with that specific program. haven't used it yet. I do know using Sony vegas, that i7 only rendering takes a minuet for minuet of movie. with pc (8350 at 5.0ghz and gtx 770 it takes .45 seconds for 1 min of movie) and my Asus with i7 and gtx 870m takes 1 sec for 1 min of movie. using a rendering gpu acceleration configuration program, my Asus pappy with 870m, the 870m offers 16.6x acceleration. When I had my 860m in first Asus before upgrading, the acceleration program gave the 860m a 8.6% acceleration, and my desktop gtx 770 gives 18% acceleration. if that help?
