I get a message to replace my battery. I do not use the battery, it is always plugged in. Do I really need to replace my battery?

You don't need to replace it if you never need it.

Having the battery plugged in and always charging it so that it's full 100% of the time usually decreases the life of the battery. This is probably what causes the message.

My last Sony laptop had a warning about leaving the laptop permanently charging at 100% and claimed it significantly reduced the life. It had a charging function you could activate if you were doing this where the battery would stop charging at 60% to prolong the batteries life.

That's a pretty useful function; I myself have already ruined two batteries just by charging them all the time :(
