Hi guys. I'm looking to buy a laptop for gaming use, $2500ish budget. The thing is I would like to still keep it pretty thin. Is, for example, Macbook size possible? I would probably want an optical drive still so the Razer Pro is out. I don't mind it being a bit bigger but I just don't want the usual thick gaming laptop. I'd like to be able to play new games for a while, don't mind the detail level as I'm also going to be building a tower. This is just for on the go and I need a laptop as well anyway, it's more just for casual gaming but I still want to be able to play most games that come out for at least like a year if its even possible with what I have in mind.

Thanks
(Also sorry if this isn't the right place to post this :S )

Toshiba quosmio is known for bad build quality and worse customer service
Alienware is bulky, very heavy and low quality parts
Asus ROG laptops are just as heavy as alienware - except ROG laptops really are exceptionally high quality - if you don't mind weight in the end, then honestly I recommend these overall.
Digital storm uses the same clevo / sager chassis that every other custom build site does - the only difference is service and installment quality.

A warning the gt70 dominator series are "the usual thick gaming laptop" that you didn't really want - they're almost as heavy as...

Gaming, and Laptop generally don't mix. Gaming and Laptop and Thin don't really mix at all. Over at Xotic PC they have the MSI GS70 StealthPro-212 which apparently only weighs 5.73 lbs. I believe a Mac Pook is generally around 3.5...

If you want thin and trendy, but not functional there are plenty of options though.

Yeah, I was thinking about the GS70 but no disk drive.. Crazy thin though. I suppose i could get an external one though since I wouldn't need it much. Yeah I don't really mean trendy or even that thin I guess, just something more subtle than usual gaming laptops. I was just using the macbook as an example for size rather than weight too. 6 pounds would be fine

Asus laptops are supposed to be amazing. Apparently they can compare to $1000 desktop systems and they cool amazingly. Here http://www.asus.com/us/Notebooks_Ultrabooks/ASUS_ROG_G750JZ/

That's the main trouble with thin laptops - they do not have a disk drive - mainly because the disk drive is practically the whole width of the chassis XD. The MSI GS series, the razerblades, the aorus X7 etc.

However I did find this: http://www.xoticpc.com/gigabyte-p25xv2cf1-preorder-p-7153.html?wconfigure=yes
and I think this fills all your boxes - it's not an "ultra thin" its between an ultra thin and a multimedia laptop.
it has a spec that could equal the MSI dominator series along with the best Asus ROG
its about 1.5" thick - so it's no fatty at all
its 2.8kg - pretty good compared to the competition.
has a blu ray optical drive
runs for $2300
hasn't been released yet but will do soon
the specs can be found here: http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=5053#sp
Hope this helps!
