hello guys,I have a Panasonic Viera TX-L42U2E about 2 and a half years old, recently some dimmed spots appeared on both sides and a dimmed circle int he middle, they are mostly visible on white, bright background, what do you think may be the problem?the warranty has expired already. What is damaged and can I fix it by myself and how expensive a repair would be?this is how it looks like

Thats the CCFL bulb on the screen, basically the backlight. Repair cost depends on your area and i dont recommend doing it yourself.

Try different settings on your tv, to see if it jumps back to normal.

Different settings don't affect it at all, tried changing brightness/contrast etc, tried factory restore,no help, also when watching movies its not visible at all in dark or very colorful scenes, but its annoying on white background

This may sound odd, but look for someone to help and give your tv a little shake... just a little bit and do no further after that. if it still doesn't work, just send it to the repair shop.

Its different for every tv and even for the same brand and model..

What the repair guy will actually do is re-solder the leads to the circuit board. If totally broken he will modify a new one to fit.
