Yesterday I got in my logitech z623's and promptly wired everything up. Initially the bass worked fine through the subwoofer, played as loud as I allowed it, and generally sounded great. Today, however, whenever I tried to play anything through them, the subwoofer would not work. Here's what I have tried:

  • Using a different aux cable
Plugging the input into the satellite speakers (there's a port for it)
Using my phone as an input
    Using my laptop as input
    Resetting my computer
    Fiddling around with Realtek
Plugging the aux cable into every speaker out port on my computer
Unplugging everything and plugging it back in
I have not tried using an RCA cable (which can be used) as I do not have one handy.

Any help would be appreciated and thanks in advance!

RMA it. I found out the hard way too although my sub didn't blow. When you first set it up, let it run at a low - normal volume and slowly increase it over the next few days. My first set smelled like burning rubber when I blasted it right out the box. After a few days you should be golden to use any sound level.

I had a similar problem, but my bass NEVER worked through the subwoofer.

Until I made a discovery. On setup, I had changed my Realtek configuration to match the new speakers... I selected a 5.1 configuration, then deselected the center, side and rear speakers so that only the front L-R and subwoofer remained selection. You would think that's the right thing to do, right? I did. And I was wrong.

These speakers separate the subwoofer frequencies on their own. Trying to do it before it gets to them leads to a fail. So leave the Realtek set to stereo outputting to the front speakers. (I also deselected full-range speakers and selected virtual surround but I don't know if that matters). Then you only need one cable between the speaker out and subwoofer, which supplies the power and audio to your speakers and should now work.
