I right click on my dekstop and go to nvidia control panel and click on "configure surround, physx," and I see my laptop display is running off my intel HD graphics 4600 and it says the "physx" is running off my 780m. Does this sound right or should both display and physX be running off my 780m? How do I fix it if this is not right?

Solution
It's doing exactly what it is supposed to be doing ..... Optimus technology auto sets the display to run off the most efficient choice....that will be , by default, the integraded GPU when doing light work like web browsing and auto switch to the 780m when you play a game.

In the nVidia Control Panel, go to "Manage 3D settings" Global Settings tab should say "Auto Select" / "Program Settings" can be left on Auto Select or if you so desire, you can select the 780m for any individual game by using the Add button
