Tbh for gaming i would go for a desktop, i made the mistake to buy a gaming laptop some years ago.
The laptop cooling is insufficiënt for the hardware so it lasts less long than a desktop.
And if you have a problem with your laptop, it is harder to solve since most of the parts are irreplacable.

Since u could afford it and it's a good deal in ur country, why not.

But 980 euros in North America could get 4nd gen i7 CPU and GTX 870M GPU (see this in Canada: http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834152580CVF), far better than this one. Anyway if this laptop isn't second hand it might be fine.

Yeah that's a pretty decent price actually. However MSI isn't that big in the Netherlands, if I were to buy an MSI which is similar to the Medion I linked on here I'd be paying 30% more simply for the brand, not to mention it wouldn't have stuff like an SSD in it.

It's a shame that I can't really order it in the US, considering shipping costs and taxes and whatnot.

well for the price I would give it a 9/10
the graphical performance is like 8.5/10 - bare in mind a 10/10 would be like 880M or 770M SLI
considering you get an SSD and a very large one is pretty kick ass.
however - it's the 750GB HDD that normally lets medion machines down - they're usually 5.4k rpms, and not 7.2k so people moan about that, and also they complain about either heating or worksmanship - so buy a decent cooling pad may be and be careful with it
