HP Pavilion dv9000 wont boot

Hey guyz ...... i own a hp pavilion dv 9000 (2008).....it fails to boot up now a days .....this had happened quite a couple of times earlier .......i used to give for it service and they made it work but it would again repeat....recently the technicians said that there is major problem in the motherboard and they were not able to figure it out ......so should i change the motherboard or look out for minor problems in the motherboard.....

OS: Win 7- 64 bit
ITS NOT UNDER WARRANTY....Pls Help

A common problem with those models is that the solder on the chipsets dissolve from repeated heat. You can have it fixed by having the chipset re-flowed. But that requires pulling the motherboard out and sending it to someone to have it done. The reflow itself costs about $40. However after the reflow they are prone to have the same problem unless they are reballed, (reapplying new solder to the chipset) and adding a copper shim on the heatsink to aide the cooling. I have done several of these repairs. Your computer really is a little old for that extensive of work, unless you want to try taking the motherboard out yourself and finding a reflow place etc. You can find Youtube videos that show the whole process.
