I recently got an Asus x551M with 4GB of ram,a dual core intel celeron N2815. I want to upgrade it so that I can enjoy games on it. Any suggestions on what CPU,motherboard, memory, and graphics card I can get for under $500.

Nope, you're quite wrong. I bought the same laptop but mine came stock with 6gb of ram and an intel i7 processor. So obviously he can upgrade his to what mine has and quite possibly even more.

From what I've seen, you aren't going to be able to upgrade that. It's a budget laptop, and you aren't going to be able to put in anything more than it has. Also, with laptops, you can't upgrade the graphics card and very rarely you can upgrade the cpu. It will only also support 4 gigs of ram, so your out of luck there also.

  • i also have the asus x551m machine with the intel n2815. my machine also came withe the standard 4 gigs. i had a prob with my battery dying and decided after reading afore postings to go ahead and purchase the ---Corsair DDR3L 8gigs and see if it would work either that or full upgrade to a new machine. i am typing this on the same machine now running 7.87 usable of the 8 gigs. the rest is used for monitor and background workings. i enjoy my little machine so i am glad to have the extra speed. enjoy yours also and have fun.

You cant really upgrade that machine its one of those Black Friday Frankenstein Laptops that companies put together from all the spare parts they have laying around and then do a limited run at a very cheap price. I know i have one that I inherited and its got to be the worst Asus model ever. I love Asus I use their Motherboards in all my desktop builds and their ROG line of laptops are great. The only thing you can try and this is not a joke( I have tested one on a old Vista Toshiba Satellite) is the external graphics card setups.I tried one a few years back and it was without a doubt a very rugged setup but it worked amazing.t I am sure by now they have made it a lot more legitimate. Just search Google for external Graphics cards for Laptops and you will find something other than that the only other thing you can do is try to find a better build and try swapping out motherboards or take that $500 and save it you can get a decent gaming laptop for $1200 or build a good desktop for the same price as long as you are doing the actual build not a custom build company. Anyway good luck if you find anything post it up I would be interested to see what you have come up with since I am currently using mine as a paperweight.
Cheers
