Hello, Tom's Hardware, this is my first post and I hope you lot can help me :)

Basically, I have my Xbox 360 connected to a PC monitor using a VGA cable that also has a red and white RCA cable(think that's what they are called). I am trying to make it so the sound is being played through a set of speakers and so far have no success.

I have followed many tutorials and unfortunately this hasn't worked out. I have the two RCA cables plugged into a Y seperator that is then plugged into a 3.5m coupler and on the other side of the coupler I have the speaker jack plugged in. Unfortunately this hasn't forget even tho from Youtube videos it works perfectly for others.

The trick is, If I hold the RCA cables in a certain way, they work perfectly...The problem is it is impossible to hold them in that way and play at the same time and finding these 'certain way' is near impossible.

Video to tutorial https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1RD3evQWL5Y

Thanks :)

Well you could call it lazy or you could call it the modern way since VGA is slowing fading an Display Port is taking over. Soon non-computer using people who only hook up a tv with HDMI will be using Display Port for 4k TV's unless they fork out the money for the new HDMI 1.2

What type of monitor an speakers are you using? This sounds more complicated than it should be. How come you can't just use HDMI from Xbox 360 to your monitor and a audio cord from your monitor to your desktop speakers?

Correction, just noticed my Xbox does have HDMI,,,,Was hidden behind the other cable(Oh Microsoft+Me). Still don't see how this would be helpful as my monitor is VGA and don't really see a way to get the speakers involved using the HDMI.

Ok I've made progress, Basically what I do now is the exact same setup but I barely plug in the speaker jack into the 3.5m coupler. It works but the audio mostly only comes out of one speaker instead of both and the audio is very quiet, as well as there is constant beeeeeeeeeeeeee noises coming from the speakers.
