Good Day fine folks!

The owner of the company I work for is a young 82 years old and suffers from severe short term memory loss. He currently has a Lenovo T400 (XP core2duo) laptop that is in dire need of replacement.

We've tried several new computers in the last few years from Win7 to Win8 / 8.1. Unfortunately he can't remember how to navigate any of the newer OS's due to his condition. Think windows classic theme in XP. I've tried to make windows 7/8 identical to XP but there are little things that throw him off due to apperances, we've used software such as classic shell and such.

My question to the community, what was the fastest CPU laptop / family (core2duo, i5, i7...) that came or had the abillity to be downgraded to XP. And we're well aware of XP's demise support wise.

I'm open to any ideas, thanks for the help!

Dave

The Haswell i7 is the fastest processor. Haswell is the 4th generation of Intel i series processors. So if you see i7 4810 that is a haswell (4000 series). The 3000 series is the Ivy bridge the 3rd generation. The i7 is more powerful and the i5 will most likely have better battery life, The pricing of the model is i3 cheapest (usually( under 600) , the i5 runs maybe around 600 to 900 or so and the i7 900 and above. No this can vary based on the other components but that should give u an idea.

Thanks for the replies, I'm looking for something better than his current core 2 duo setup if there is such a thing.

Current CPU: Intel® Core™2 Duo processor P9500 (2. 53GHz, 6MB L2, 1066MHz FSB, 25watt)

You could have an issue if you buy a newer processor and try to downgrade to XP. People had the problem with downgrading Vista to XP. The problem is caused back when Vista came out the Harddrive interfaces changed from IDE to SATA. The problem was that you need to install SATA drivers before XP will install. I you choose to go that way I would google about downgrading to XP and SATA drivers.

I'm no stranger to loading drivers prior to install, been using raid forever. But its finding the newer hardware that has XP compatible drivers.
