Sorry, but I have to agree.

"Cheap" and "gaming laptop" don't belong in the same sentence. You pretty much need to spend $1000+ for anything half decent though opinions will vary on what that means, and of course it depends on the games played.

About your games:
BF4 - very demanding game not suited to any lower-end PC

GTA4 - a horribly optimized port I've never got working properly on three different systems. GTA5 will look and run far better on PC once released.

*There are many, many games however that are fun, look great, and run on inexpensive laptops but most of those are older games which you can also get on Steam fairly cheaply.

For example: Half Life 2, older Call of Duty titles, etc.

Update. Here's a really quick benchmark. You should be looking up gaming or 3DMark benchmarks as well (I think this is just the CPU portion here): http://www.futuremark.com/hardware/cpu/AMD+A4-3305M/review

If it's an APU it uses a combined CPU and GPU which helps keep the price down, but many laptop manufactures then bottleneck the GPU performance by not having fast enough System RAM (which the GPU shares).

I think I remember even the BEST APU on the market being under an HD7750 in graphics performance and the cheaper ones being far below that (i.e. as little as 5FPS in BF4 on Medium).

The GPU is usually the best indicator, so you need to look up benchmarks for either a standalone GPU (like the GT740M) or the APU.

Well both AMD and Intel now have integrated graphics built into their processors. So if your purchasing an laptop with and Intel and it shows a ATI or Nvidia in the specs that is a discrete card that typically has it's own memory.
