Hi, I'm going to buy a new gaming laptop because I plan to study game design but in my country technology is too expensive I was thinking on buying a gaming notebook instead of building a PC (I know that PC is better), also for the fact that I can carry to any where. I have 2 options the ASUS ROG G750JS-DS71 and the MSI GS60 Ghost Pro-052, they have the same intel core i7-4700HQ processor, the new NVIDIA GeForce GTX870M, the ASUS has 16GB of RAM and the MSI 12GB, the ASUS has 256GB of solid state drive and the MSI 128GB, the 2 have 1TB of storage.

But here is the thing, as I will be using the laptop also for university I need it to be light and the ASUS weights 9.9 pounds and the MSI 4.36 pounds, but with all those things the heat is the problem on gaming laptops the ASUS has on the CPU 80°C and the GPU 50°C, in the other hand the MSI heat was on the GPU 80°C and on the GPU 74°C, both on the benchmarks made with 3DMark 11. Also the price isn't a great difference the ASUS is at $1,770 and the MSI is at $1,800 on Amazon.

What is your opinion, what laptop should I buy?

Thanks :)

Weight is an issue if you're lugging around things on your back for an extended period of time. I have an ASUS ROG GS73sw which weights about 8.5lbs. Let me tell you that doesn't sound like much, but after a while your shoulders and back start to strain and you will notice. I've been deciding myself on an MSI GS60 GhostPro-052 or a gigabyte p35w v2 just on the grounds of performance and weight. My only question being and one im waiting for is I want to know how much these machines are going to heat up after extended use.
