buying a budget laptop for value

2. What is the size of the notebook that you are considering? 13"-15.6"

3. What screen resolution do you want? Not sure, love watching movies and for reading PDF files

4. Do you need a portable or desktop replacement laptop? A portable

5. How much battery life do you need? At least 5hrs

6. Do you want to play games with your laptop? If so then please list the games that you want to with the settings that you want for these games. (Low,Medium or High)?

7. What other tasks do you want to do with your laptop? (Photo/Video editing, Etc.) A little photo/video editing for hobby not professional use.

8. How much storage (Hard Drive capacity) do you need? 320Gb and more

10. How long do you want to keep your laptop? 3 yrs

11. What kind of Optical drive do you need? DVD ROM/Writer,Bluray ROM/Writer,Etc ? A DVD R/W

No brand preference, need one with good support

Don't know much about laptops, this is my first purchase. Need a good warranty and good keyboard, prefer backlit keyboard.

I can help with that. I would say you are looking to buy an ultra book based on your description above. I would recommend Vizio CT-14 A5. It rocks fast i7 processor, 1080p display, metallic light construction and meets almost every requirement you listed. The only ones it doesn't meet are the hard drive with 256 gb (I think it would be wise to lose some hard disk space for the great speeds SSD drives as opposed to HDD) and no DVD drive (which you probably thank me for anyways because it will make you laptop heavier unnecessarily and should be brought externally anyways).

Thanks a lot for your prompt reply,
I checked out its reviews and I'm a bit concerned about it not being a touchscreen since it uses windows 8 and there's a lot of complaints about its touchpad.
Is the Lenovo thinkpad s431 equal to it in specs? I like it cos of the support on it and its backlit keyboard.
I would appreciate any other recommendations also. I need to stay within my budget even after adding warranty.
