The Keys aren't responding when I go to type something.

Help! Laptop is driving me insane! I need to complete College work and that seems rather impossible while the keys aren't co-operating. For example I go to type in Google but apparently the keys aren't having it and refuse to display the letters I am typing. Please can someone help me save my poor laptop before I end up throwing out the window. ;(

P.S It's a Toshiba laptop if that helps. I'm having to borrow my sisters laptop to type this.

I need an answer ASAP as it is important

It's likely the keyboard on that laptop needs to be replaced. The keyboard can fail for a number of reasons, though a liquid spill is a common reason.

In the meantime it's possible to use the laptop with an external USB keyboard (like a desktop).

You (or someone else) can reseat the data cable of the keyboard. If the keyboard went out on you, you'll need to swap it out for a new keyboard. If it's the keyboard controller on the main board, that's a more costly and involved fix.
