I barely know anything about cameras and in need of expert's opinion on these two cameras. Personally I dont mind spending the extra cash for better zoom/wider capture of the SX170. Does number of mega pixels matter in this case? Correct me if im wrong, but bigger lens should capture more light and thus create a better quality photo to compensate the 4MP difference right? Personally, the only real advantage of the cybershot is the 8gb memory card and the free extra 2 yr warranty (which i might not even use). Which one should i grab?

Thanks in advance!

This isn't a camera forum really. The links don't really give much info. The sony at least should fit in your pocket. The Canon only does 720p movies. But do you want it for movies too? I think you should Google reviews for these cameras. I do video editing and use a still camera - Olympus uTough - which is OK for me - it does so-so movies, good photos but I like it being water and dust proof. I've buggered a lot of cameras dropping them etc
