ASUS or HP

Passmark is a synthetic score and isn't always true to real world use but gives you an indicator:

That said the processors are close with the asus i5-3230m having a slightly higher core clock at 2.6 vs 2.5 and turbo clock at 3.2 vs 3.1 yet the hp has a slightly higher score of 4143 vs 3993

That addressed the asus has an nvidia gpu while the hp has an amd and I tend to favor both nvidia and asus over amd and hp as of late. The build quality of asus in all products, motherboards, tablets, routers etc. seems to be consistently high whereas I find little things like the dc jacks in hps (I used to work in a repair shop and saw these breaking constantly after only 1-2 years of use). To be fair, hp has such a large market share ahead of asus for now that it could be pure numbers (odds) that's why I'm seeing such common flaws. That said, I do have a positive bias in favor of asus at this juncture. HP isn't bad or horrible but I've been less than impressed as of late. Nvidia I'm just more familiar with and have no bad experience with AMD, just lacking familiarity but I acknowledge they are equally strong on paper and these two companies keep gamers happy.
