Hello,
I've connected my laptop to TV via VGA cable, and the video is working perfectly. However, when trying to connect sound through a 3.5mm jack from earphone plugin on laptop to the red and white plugins on my TV, there is NO sound?! Sound only comes out of laptop once audio jack is unplugged.
I have tried control panel etc and there are two options there: Speaker and Digital Audio (S/PDIF) but only sound is playing through Speakers.
Please help me so I can play sound on TV through the audio jack! Thanks!

What cable are you using? A 3.5mm plug to 3.5mm plug or a 3.5mm plug to red and white?

Also, are you sure you're using the right audio inputs on the TV? Because you're using the VGA connection you probably have to use a specific set of red and white inputs to get sound.

It's a 3.5mm plug from laptop's headphone jack to a red and white in my TV.

The red & white plugs are probably for aux AV inputs (L&R sound and composite video) of the TV and will be active when you select that input on TV. I don't know what audio input option you have when VGA video is selected on your TV.

The red & white part of the audio cable is currently plugged into the side. I have tried the red & white jacks at the back of the TV too and still no sound, but the video via VGA cable is perfect.

Interesting - I just bought this cable an hour ago and they said the red & white/3.5mm would be fine. Do you think a 3.5mm to 3.5mm would DEFINITELY work?!

I just tried a very small audio cable and the bars next to Digital Audio (S/PDIF) were going up and down but still no sound coming from TV once again.

Audio cable was just a cable like a 3.5mm to 3.5mm but it's about 15cm long so very hard to plug in! I plugged that from my laptop headphone jack to TV's headphone jack and nothing worked once again.

Unable to post photos at the moment but if you go to: Control Panel, Sound, Manage Audio Devices under 'Playback' there are two options 'Speakers' 'Digital Audio (S/PDIF) underneath. At the moment whilst either red&white cable or the very small cable I just plugged in, next to the option in the Playback tab, whilst the audio was playing, there were green bars indicating there is sound available to play....but yet it chooses not to.

Yes that's correct. It was like that when the first cable was plugged in too though, not just the short cable.

<<I plugged that from my laptop headphone jack to TV's headphone jack and nothing worked once again. >>

If you connect the laptop headphone to the TV headphone jack you won't get any sound from the TV. Because TV headphone jack is an output jack not input jack.
