Hi, Im trying to connect my laptop to my TV via HDMI without success, heres what Ive done:

The cable and ports are not the problem, I can connect my Xbox and everything is fine.

My laptop seems to be making the connection: it identifies the Samsung TV and the HDMI connection, it set the TVs native resolution correctly, it gives me the option to extend and change the primary display. Just as if everything were working correctly.

But my Tv only says that the source is not connected. No audio nor video. Ive tried changing the order in which I connect/power on everything, tried different resolutions and Hz but it wont work.

Dell XPS 701x
Nvidia GT 445m, latest Driver
Samsung Smart TV 5500 Series 5

Thank you.

Edit: Forgot I have Windows 7 up to date

Thanks for your help i7baby:

The native resolution of the TV is 1920x1080. The Nvidia control panel automatically chose that one as the best resolution. As I understand, the max resolution my card can handle is 2560x1600, higher than what I need, so I think that shouldnt be the problem unless Im missing something. At this point Ive tried different resolutions and Hz rates, because I read sometimes that fixed the problem, but had no success.

In the display configuration, in the control panel, Windows recognizes both displays, and gives me the options to duplicate, extend, choose primary display, etc. as if the connection were working, but the Tv shows nothing.

Edit: Forgot to add that the TVs firmware is also up to date
