If u have big speakers they need power. Either they plug directly into a wall outlet and into the TV. Or if there is no wall outlet from the speakers need amplification somehow; that's where a receiver comes into play. Upload pics of the speakers you plan on using. And a pic of the back of the TV might help

I cant tell without seeing the back panel of the speaker setup (the subwoofer probably). The subwoofer might be the amp for the whole setup (if it gets it own power from the wall), then you just need optical out to 3.5mm cable like this

http://www.ebay.com/itm/0-8M-TosLink-Male-to-3-5mm-Male-Digital-Optical-Stereo-Audio-Adapter-Cable-Lead-/360884527968?pt=US_Audio_Cables_Adapters&hash=item540664e360

if the speakers don't get power from the wall, they need power somehow ( the PC and the TV wont power speakers). You will need a receiver if the above option wont work. Which is like a 200-400$ investment

You will need one of these:
http://www.parts-express.com/digital-to-analog-converter-%2851-compatible%29--180-999
to convert the optical digital output of the TV to stereo analog for the speakers. You will also need an optical cable and a stereo audio cable with 2 RCA connectors at one end and probably a stereo mini plug at the speaker end. The problem will be that you will have to adjust volume at the speakers since the optical out of the TV is usually fixed volume.
