Hi Everyone.
I have been really confused in this GK208 and GK107 thing of the GT740m. I thought it is a decent mobile gpu able to play games like BF3 & BF4 at medium to high details on 1366x768 res.
I have been surveying its videos on YouTube as well and this card has been performing pretty well. I know I cant expect everything on ultra and I know that I shouldn't buy a laptop for gaming. But i`ll be on the move mostly so i want a laptop which could easily run these.
I m really tight on the budget and these two fall in it which have the specs as,
i5-4200u
4gb ram
GT740m 2gb (nothing else is written even on HP`s site)
500gb - 750gb hdd

Please help me guys. And is that card really powerful enough as seen on YouTube.

My current pc specs are,
E5700 dual core (@3ghz stock)
4gb ddr2 ram
GT240 1gb ddr5 xfx (directx 10.1)
500gb Baracuda hdd

People used to say i wont be able to play these both game at HIGH. But i have been playing them on High. BF4 sometimes does stutter, so i play it on med.

The fabrication process is not quite as important in this case since both the GK107 and the GK208 are the same Kepler architecture. You won't need to put much stock into whether the HP has one or the other. What's more important is the chip model (i.e. be more concerned about a 750M over a 740M).

The 740M is not a powerful chip and will probably run things on medium~ graphics in modern/demanding games. In 720p, perhaps you can run said games on high.
