I'm in this tricky scenario. I'm in the market for a high end gaming notebook and can't manage to decide between the Razer Blade and the Aorus X7.

I live in Bangalore, India and would prefer a brand which has service centers in India. I am looking at the laptop as a desktop replacement and my main usage consists of gaming, web designing and After Effects. I need it to be thin (No Alienware and Asus G750) and preferably good looking (No MSI Ghost). Also on the list is at least a 5 hour battery life. Though the GTX 870M is likely to outperform the GTX 765M on the Aorus, I am having second thoughts about the Razer since it is a relatively new company and reliability is still a question mark. The main reason reliability is so high up the list is because Razer does not provide service in India, I am getting the laptop from the US and would be forced to send it back, paying the customs. If there isn't a huge difference between the 2 laptops in terms of performance, is it worth taking a risk?

Well actually the 780m is still beating the 870m it may be lack of updated drivers but who knows. But the 870m is actually at a disadvantage in every way including memory bus compared the to 780m and the 765m will actually get around 80-90% increase in most games. In battlefield 3 the 870m gets about 40 frames on ultra and the 765 sli will get about 46 it's not a hugs difference but it is still there. About the service issue razer has come out and said that in the very near future they are expanding their market and services almost completely world wide. The blade is overall built better and nothing should go wrong with if; the only thing that could possibly happens is a drive could go out, but that'll be in 3 years at the earliest and...

I'm in the same situation as you with exactly the same notebooks. The Aorus actually has dual gtx 765m's that will outperform the 870m in the blade, but really not by a whole lot. Also the Aorus has 16 gb of ram too so if that's important than there you go. The ups the blade has is that in my opinion it looks much better! It has a 3200x1800 screen that will be just so beautiful. The blade is also slightly easier to upgrade the ssd since it has a spare msata slot that you can throw in another ssd, while the only way to upgrade the aorus is to replace both the drives inside of it. The dual graphics in the adds a bit more performance, but creates more heat and cute the batter life in half! The aorus is a better choice if the only thing you do with it is sit it on your desk and possibly add an external display because I hear the screen isn't anything to great. The blade is more portable and will be better as an all around system meant for portability and working, but is greatly built for gaming as well. Personally I might get the blade because when I hear about the sexy screen on it and it looks so soo good. Only reason to get the sorus is if you need that smaller price tag or the small performance boost in games.

Hi,
I have done my research of the market and I know that the Aorus X7 runs the GTX 765M in SLI. But, the SLI shows a 42% increase in frame rates over the 765M by itself. The 765M in SLI, as claimed by Aorus, comes close to the GTX 780M. But, the 870M beats the 780M. This makes the Razer Blade a better performer than the X7. The Blade is easily the better of the two. My only concern is reliability. I want this buy to last for at least the next 4 years without encountering problems. The Razer, being thinner and sporting a touchscreen is more complex than the Aorus. In India, Gigabyte has a service chain and Razer doesn't. That's the main question, if I wasn't clear enough.

The blade is overall built better and nothing should go wrong with if; the only thing that could possibly happens is a drive could go out, but that'll be in 3 years at the earliest and you could buy an msata ssd for cheap then. Only other thing is something could happen to OS and in most cases razer will send you a recovery flash drive, but in your case I would suggest backing up the OS on a thumb drive. Other than that nothing with the screen, keyboard, body or internal hardware should never really be in danger of harm. I Personaly have bought a number of razer products maybe not a blade or other full system but all they're products they do make with great pride and try to make sure nothing goes wrong for the customers; they follow many ideals like apple and that isn't a bad thing at all. My opinion is to put faith into razer and just get which ever notebook you feel you'll be happy to see the first time you open the box and to the time you're about to replace it :) Hopefully apple will get some service centers available to you and other people in the near future.

You guys, the new Aorus came out, its the Aorus x7 v2, and it has 860m in SLI, which by then i would probably pick the Aorus instead of the razer blade because the razer blade has 870, but dual 860 will beat that nicely
