Basically, I'm looking at laptops between $600 and $700.

Right now. I'm eyeing these two:

The first, was my original pick but now I'm unsure. The graphics of the first (AMD HD 8670M) is obviously inferior to the second laptop, which packs a GT 740M. The only reason I didn't jump on the second laptop, is the resolution. I'm used to using dual 1080p monitors at home, and using 1366 x 768 for the next 4 years at college sounds daunting... and pretty cramped.

Obviously, I'm not a hardcore gamer. My desktop at home was more built for that, but I figure I won't be playing as much in college. Still, I'd like to enjoy Dragon Age 3 and a few others when they finally arrive. I don't typically play super high detail games such as COD or Crysis or anything, though I would play BF4 if I got the first laptop as it comes with it. So, keep in mind that the games I would play aren't the most demanding. WoW, Mass Effect series, FIFA 14, Dragon Age, Assassin's Creed, that sort of deal.

Most of the time I will be using the computer for school stuff, browsing the internet, and watching movies. But I do still want decent enough power for when I do decide to play some games.

On a side note, the CPUs are different too, but I saw a thread a while back saying the A10 is better for gaming and the i5 is better for other computing.

Does anyone have experience with these two GPUs? I haven't shopped for computers or parts in a while, so I'm not sure how the crossfire with the APU will affect things. Any recommendations? Is the 740M a drastic step up? Is 1366 x 768 instead of 1080p a drastic step down?

Solution
with a 15" monitor or smaller, 1366x768 is fine as long as you don't look to closely. And gaming on a better GPU at a lower resolution wil net you better framerates/higher settings.
