Hey i bought a laptop yesterday that was broken was working on it today fixing different problems main one it over heating so when I thought I was finished the hardware side and started on the software the laptop keeps losing connection with the charger.
I know that the charger is sound as its an universal charger I use for fixing laptops and it works on other laptops
Another thing that has me confused is that it will keep connection with charger when its not booted up (can tell by charging light)

Anybody have any ideas what is causing this to happen if it was a consent (when on or off) I'd just replace the charger connection but since its not and the connection is directly on the board I don't really want to waste time doing that to find out its something else causing it

Thanks in advance

Yes, especially if it was left with a dead battery for that long. Laptop batteries shouldn't be allowed to sit completely dry for long periods of time.

It sounds like something is wrong with the battery, it probably needs replacing. There could also be something wrong with the charger port, but if it only stops working when the computer is booted than that is unlikely.

Could it be that it hasn't been used in a few months from the few mins I had with the laptop it looks like it wasn't used since 04/13 so just under a year by a few days hopefully when it charges up a bit it will be ok (wish-full thinking). Will have a look around might have a battery lying around that might fit (I'm very wish-full today really must get some sleep ;))
