Razer Carcharias vs. Plantronics Gamecom 380 decision

not a couple of days ago, I bought a Razer Carcharias (xbox/pc version) headset because my PC speaker got busted. And it so happens that I told my elder brother about losing the speakers and he surprised me with a Plantronics Gamecom 380.

I don't really care for the price nor aesthetics and the brand as long as it would serve me well. I am in a decision of giving a pair of the cans to my younger brother instead.

I have seen different reviews and they are pretty much alike. I would like to get your inputs about each and help me out on this predicament. Quality of sound, material and overall comfort-quality.

I am only using the onboard sound card (mobo: Gigabyte 990FXA-UD3 rev.3)
will any of the two make a difference if I get a better sound card?

thanks,

Try both and see which one YOU think sounds better.

I have a pair of the Razer Carcharias, I've had them for 5 years, I found the speakers were half decent (at the time) but the mic was rubbish. Also the headband started slipping after a while. The cans also bled sound too easily (they didn't muffle background noise very well)

At the start of last year I replaced them with a pair of Asus ROG Orion PROs (but still have the Razers for backup). These things come with a USB sound card. I found these were much better all round. Better sound isolation, better sound (without soundcard and better still with), better mic, better build.

I can't help with the Plantronics as I've never tried them.
