Before I moved my audio worked well, (I had Bose headphones) and i used a cord to plug them in because they barely made it to the front panel. I used both panels at one time, used the front but barley made then bought a cord and then put it in the back. But now I moved and I put my pc in storage for about 5 months and when I hooked it back up, the audio wasn't working. Later found out my headphones didn't work, then I tried earbuds, and speakers, nothing. I thought once I get internet I would update my drivers (I had nvidia and realtk, not sure why) but I updated them and still nothing. My uncle came over and looked at it, he's a real computer nerd, but just said that realtk and nvida got mixed up and just stopped working but my pc wasn't even on for 5 months. He said he was going to bring a sound card, still hasn't yet, though. So I uninstalled my audio drivers and then re-installed just realtk, didn't work. Tried the same with nvidia and nothing. I looked inside the pc all the wires all still in place, I haven't bothered taking it anywhere yet, knowing it's going to end up costing me money that I really don't need to spend. It shows the volume works but I hear nothing, not sure what's the matter. I've looked everywhere and put hours into trying to fix my pc, read too many comments on others and none really had the same problem, so I decided to ask myself. When I plug in a jack, it isn't detecting anything at all, I've tried two pair of earbuds and two pair of speakers. (And I don't have that extension cable anymore)

Assuming your on using Windows 7 or 8, here's a silly question: do you see the green bar in your sound mixer fluctuating while audio is playing?

Have you tested if the system sounds are playing, navigation clicks, chirps, etc.?

Another goofy question: Have you inspected the physical jacks for foreign objects (bugs or dust) that may have found their way into the connector jack while in storage? Try taking a vacuum to the jacks, canned air duster may only drive an object deeper making it more difficult to remove later.
