I have been trying to re-install windows 8 using a bootable usb version as disk did not come with Laptop. and keep getting message "No signed drivers available"

ok. I would download ALL the win8 drivers found here... during the windows install it should give you an option to install drivers, use that option to install chipset drivers http://www.asus.com/Notebooks_Ultrabooks/K55A/HelpDesk_Download/

Make sure you download all the drivers available there, you'll likely need them all before you're done, but you'll need the chipset and any sata/raid/storage drivers in order to install windows.
