My still camera records video at 1080p and 720p in a mov format @ 60 fps. I then convert my video to an mp4 video to view on my TV.

If I try to play my mov or mp4 video in its 60 fps state on my Vista pc 2.6 ghz (128 MB video memory) the video is choppy. I kind of suspected this has to the old pc I have.

I copy my videos onto a usb 2.0 stick (in their 60 fps speed) and insert the stick into my Samsung Blu-ray player and view them on my HD TV and they play beautifully.

My question is, is the Blu-ray player or TV displaying these at 30 fps? If I view the 60 or the 30 fps video file on TV, they both play perfectly.

Solution
The TV should display each frame of your video recorded at 60fps. However you will need to set the refresh rate to at least 60Hz. The 60Hz means that the monitor will draw an image on the monitor 60 times every second.

Your computer may stutter this footage if it cannot handle the large amount of data processing necessary to display the video in real-time. The older the computer, the more likely it could potentially not have enough processing power.

Long time ago I ripped and transcoded a blu-ray disc to a 2GB file. My 2.5Ghz core two-duo cannot play the file without tons of stuttering and out of sync audio and video.

jfiveNYC, Thanks for the answer. I kind of suspected this would be the case. My bottom line is that the video looks great on my TV where I like to view these videos.
