I have a dr2418nr hp pavillion laptop its a 05/06 model and it hasn't worked for a while. i have no idea what is wrong with it but ive been doing some digging and found that it could be several issues it could. some people that ive seen has the same issue and say its a power issue its not getting enough power. A buddy of mine has told me it may not be passing the post test on startup. when i turn on the laptop i get l.e.d lights to come on and sometimes you can hear the disk drive click a bit but then stops and nothing happens. i took out the battery and held down the power button for 15 sec to drain the power in the pc and then left battery out and plugged in the AC cable and then turned it on and the fan kicked on and the touch pad on/off button was blinking from orange to blue. anyone able to help me? please.

That is either a power supply issue, or your video card is bad. A lot of those pavillion laptops from hp had issues with the actual solder between the video card chip and the motherboard. I know this because I had about 50 of them come into my shop one year. So what i would do is first try a new power supply. Other than that given the age of your laptop it wouldn't be worth it to put any more than $30 into it. There is a way to fix it for a short period of time like a month by baking your motherboard in a oven. You can see an example here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G65-ncBxdHA You could take it to a place that does bga solder work, but they charge $89.99+ an hour which isn't really worth it. I think given the age of the laptop I...

I think given the age of the laptop I would just start looking for an upgrade unless the power supply thing works. To me time is always money so for the most part I won't even swap out a motherboard on a laptop anymore because the time it would take me to do that you could almost buy a brand new laptop. The computer repair stores might con you into that but don't fall for it. If you want to order a motherboard and do it yourself well you can but you most likely will have the same issue again down the road.
