I am currently looking for a laptop that fits my needs perfectly. I will be purchasing it in June.

Requirements:
I will be connecting it to a 2560x1440 moniter when using photoshop and multitasking
The screen shouldn't be bigger than 15"
I want it to be light and portable
I need the battery to last, 3 hours won't cut it
No more than $1300

I don't plan on doing much gaming. But I need a laptop that can handle supporting the moniter while running some heavy photoshop. I considered a MacBook but it really isn't worth the money, unless you think the base model 13" MacBook Pro will work for me. I am looking at the Asus N550jv, Lenovo Y510p (or 410), and the Samsung ATIV book 8. I'm really stuck on what to get. Thanks guys.

Samsung ativ book 8. 15", 5 lb, quad core i7, amd hd 8700m graphics with 1gb ddr5, 1tb hhd, 8gb ram, and 8 hour battery. Touchscreen if you care. Upgradeable ram to 16gb, and you can actualy upgrade to a ssd on your own. $1200.

I was going to get macbook pro retina but it was $2399, 256 ssd and 8gb ram. Instead got the samsung $1200, upgraded to 16gb ram +$60, threw in a 1tb samsung evo ssd +$455. So for about $1700 i got 10 hour battery, 15" touchscreen, 5 lbs, windows which with a mac id have to bootcamp, double the ram 16gb, double the ssd 1tb, and for more than $500 less.

Gotta tell you, my first thought was Macbook. If you are willing to consider a small hike in your budget, I think you'll find it to easily be the best of the options available.

If not, I'm a sucker for Lenovo and Asus. Some of the samsung systems we sell had overheating problems and whatnot. Anyhow, just my two cents. You're going high-end, so any way you slice it the system should be fairly good.
