We have a Dell Inspron N5010 laptop. The screen went black so we could not see anything. We used the "restart" feature (back to when it worked properly) and it fixed the black issue. However, during the repair process, we noticed that the white tint became light pink. Now, all white space is light pink. Have you ever heard of this before? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

It sounds like the cable connecting the graphics card/CPU to the screen is going bad. This issue can be recreated on a desktop if the VGA cable connection isn't plugged in all the way.

Connected to another computer monitor via external cable. No issues indicating something is not correct in laptop. Does this change anything?

Thanks for the help.

its one of these,

video card is going bad,
cable to the video card and screen is loose or bad,
inverter board is bad,
screen is bad

also try this:

That shows there's nothing wrong with the processor or motherboard of the laptop. The issue lies in the screen or in the cable between the screen and processors. I'm not sure if that can be replaced.

What would be suggested for the next step(s) to fix?
