have you tried disabling your mic in the sound panel ?

so its not your headset you said its working fine with onboard audio ?
what color jacks are you plugging in ?

Nothing to do with the jacks. Just when the USB power port is plugged in.... The noise happens.

this seems to be a problem with these headphones , i googled it and you are not alone there are dozens upon dozens of people with same problem and no answers
it may be time to get a new set of headphones

Man, was really hoping that wasn't the reason. I've only owned the 'phones for a year and it cost 100 bucks.... I guess I'll have to though considering I've heard this kind of thing can cause tinnitus. Any suggestions for a new headset?

If I'm honest I'm not much of an audiophile, I just want the best gaming and movie/youtube experience.

I had the same problem with my external usb soundcard. I did some research and found out that the issue is actually hearing the electricity from usb, since it was usb powered. I had my studio monitors hooked on my card and when there was no sound playing in the system, I could hear the things you're talking about. Tell me if you hear any changes in sound you hear, while not playing any sound in system and just moving the mouse or scrolling the web page, as if the mouse movement affects the sound you hear.
Anyway I manage to fix this by pluging my monitors(integrated soundcard with seperate power connection) so they only get audio signal from pc and not power aswell. After that, the noise was gone. It was really hard making music with those sounds.
Maybe trying powered usb hub or something, but I doubt this would fix the issue since they get power from usb anyway...

Those do look really nice, thing is my budget isn't very high considering I am also about to order a Razer blackwidow keyboard, deathadder mouse and a benq monitor. That's why I was hoping for a fix for my issue instead of a replacement.

i also have a set of razer orca headphones they are a comfortable felt and probably match your setup perfectly and lots cheaper
and no usb connection

The noise doesn't change when i move The mouse, but it amps up a little when I open new windows, applications etc. I goes full force when I launch a game. I can't hear it much over the game sound, but when I pause I definitely can and it's very obnoxious. Not too sure if we have the same problem, but do you have any other fixes?

Those are out of stock everywhere
If I do get another Razer headset are you sure the same issue won't occur? I'm a bit weary of their quality now...

i cant guarantee that with usb but anything with just a straight 3mm jack like the orca wont,

Sorry, but as far as I know, this is a common issue with usb powered audio devices. Its just that pc delivers both power and audio thru same cable. Or maybe it even depends on hardware u have in pc, idk. Im just saying, cause I had lots of this kind of issues and most of the time it was usb power related. Maybe trying powered usb hub? But, as I said, the headphones still get the power from usb... Seems to me, if opening new windows and putting pc to work, makes the sound more powerfull... I'm 99% sure its usb power issue.
