Google Desktop cannot access gmail - Port 995 problem

I run windows 7 in my system. I use Google Desktop and gmail for many years. Several weeks ago, gmail could not be logged on from Google Desktop. It complains about Port 995 being blocked. How do I unblock Port 995?

start with restarting all you networking systems (modem, router, and the PC) If it persists, contact your ISP to see if they started blocking for some reason. Port 995 is the standard SSL port for email. It is normally never blocked.
