FPS Drops on Battery

So i'm playing games (LoL), and I accidentally unplug the charger. The FPS drops from ~80 to ~30. Is this because the change in brightness because when the laptop is on battery, the brightness seems to change every once in a while. Is this supposed to happen?

I have an HP Envy 17 with Intel i7 4700MQ, 16 GB RAM, NVIDIA GeForce GT 740M, Windows 8.1 Pro.

On battery, laptops generally reduce the screen brightness, and slow the cpu/gpu down to conserve battery power.

Power settings. Change the settings for 'On Battery'.

I checked in my power settings are the brightness is same on both on battery and charging. I am positive it is the right power plan.
