Solution
It depends on your laptop. Some laptops have the CPU soldered onto the motherboard, so those wouldn't be upgradeable.

Try looking for various reviews of your laptop. Those may give you some idea of what can be done.

Just out of curiosity, what is the brand and model of your laptop?

after some quick research, i have found an i5 that is compatible with my laptop, because as it turns out, the K53E had two variants: one with the i3 and another with the i5. other than that, they are identical pc's and i should have no trouble interchanging mine with the intel core i5 2410m. thanks for the advice Casey!
