Do i need to install Physx driver for my AMD card in order to use the CPU based Physx function?
For ex. in Arkham Origins

To answer your question, no, you do not need to install the standalone PhysX driver to play Batman with PhysX enabled on your CPU. The PhysX software is installed with the game.

Now, if you run into problems, it might help to go get the latest standalone PhysX version. Batman: Arkham Origins won't allow you to enable the full advanced level of PhysX with an AMD graphics card present.... for your own good, as mentioned, it will kill your framerate running it on a CPU. Too bad, the Batman series has the most intense PhysX effects of any game series.

PhysX is proprietary. nVidia supports it in hardware on their GPUs. Anything else offloads it to the CPU. IMO, the CPU overhead is not worth it for a little bit of eye candy.

Since Intel and nVidia are partners, I suspect they have put 0 (zero) effort into optimizing PhysX to run well on AMD GPU or CPU. This of course is just my opinion.
