canon 1100D .MOV file are quit big for a ~10 second file.

So i have the canon 1100D camera, and i want to record videos on it. Only short clips though ~ 15 min altogether. But when i recorded a test clip with the settings adjusted to fit my needs for
post-processing on a computer. the clip which is only 10 seconds long is using up 120mg of space... the file format is saved to a .MOV file, but i was wondering if i could somehow change the camera to save it on a smaller file format? or if you could tell me what format i should convert it too, so i wont totally screw the video quality up.

The problem is that i dont know if we (me and my friends) will be able to film long top 15 min clips, without the file getting to big for the sd card...
any answers a greatly appreciated.

What size of SD card are you using (4GB, 8GB, 16GB or larger)? You should not have any problem recording ~15 minutes of video with a 4GB card, well at least according to the manual. Personally I wouldn't recommend anything small than an 8GB card for your application just to be on the safe side.

From what I gather from looking at the user manual you can't change to another recording format though the 120MB for 10 seconds does seem a bit high but that is not taking into consideration other shooting factors. I don't think you will have a problem getting 15 minutes of video on your SD card but to be sure I would test it out before using it on a shoot.
