Hey all,

Okay, I'm fixing my friends laptop for him, his HDD was messed up to the max, couldent copy anything from it or salvage it. I've replaced the HDD and thrown a new Windows installation onto it. Now, as in the title, the mousepad doesn't work. I've installed the exact driver package from hp here:http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?os=4063&lc=en&cc=au&dlc=en&sw_lang=&product=5283110#N3020 and still no luck.

Any help or suggestions?
Cheers.

Check in device manager that the driver has loaded for the correct hardware. Is there a 'hot key' to turn it on / off. You might want to check that. Also some drivers enable the track pad to be disabled when another pointing device is detected.

There is no Synaptics device listed under "Mice and other pointing devices" Only HID-Compliant mouse. I have two unknown devices though, One PCI device and an unknown device. I've tried unplugging the external mouse and booting without it to no avail.
