Hi, I have an Asus U56e Laptop and have been having serious problems with the lcd screen. The screen has started to display very distorted images when on basic pictures and things such as the desktop, but when switching to something a tad more graphically demanding such as a YouTube video or, like the example I will post below, switching to Metro in Windows 8, causes the screen to freak out and start flickering Black boxes and colors are really distorted along with the rest of the display. I know it's either the screen or ribbon cable that connects the screen to the laptop because I have tested it with another monitor and everything was fine. I know everyone says it's almost always the screen and never the cable which in my case would be great because I have found genuine screens to replace it with for apps $50 but the cable runs throughout the whole laptop so I would have to completely disassemble the laptop to replace that. So in conclusion, should I look at replacing the ribbon cable or the screen?

I had a laptop with a bad LCD cable and my screen was completely black or gray. When I attached a external monitor the picture was fine. After searching the internet I thought it was the inverter. That was close it was the cable and I had the warranty work done. When I got the laptop back the Blacks were blue and the graphics were all messed up. I contacted the warranty company and they sent me another shipping box, The day the box came the it fixed itself and has been working with no issues for a year and a half.
