Laptop powers on but no display

ASUS N550JV-DB72T.

Laptop LEDs light up when powered on. No display. CD Drive begins clicking repeatedly (as if looking for something to read).

Hard drive confirmed to still be working, tried taking out/putting back in RAM/battery. Same clicking.

Connected to external monitor, but nothing.

Anyone know the probable issue?

It is definitely the optical drive ( and I forgot to mention that the laptop has a SSD). Opening the optical drive prevents the optical drive from trying to read.

Ok let try to find out who is the culprit., by some diagnostic steps., First as you said no display did you check with external monitor??

I had a similar problem but when i connected to an external monitor it worked. The proved that is was the screen or invertor or a cable and not the graphics cards. Your problem sounds like it's the graphics card.

If you have a discrete card and its removable you can get a new GP
If it's soldered onto the mobo then you need a new mobo

If it's integrated graphics the processor may be bad.

Have the same problem. WiFi light blinks once, HDD light blinks twice, DVD clicks and DVD light blinks. This is immediate after pressing the power button on.
