Hi. I am hoping to have some of my elementary school students upgrade a laptop as part of a maker/code club.

The laptop is a Toshiba PSLB8C-04N01X and currently sports a T3200 cpu and 4 GB of RAM.

Thanks. Any help is much appreciated.

Hi again, TeacherGuy. :)

You may find this link a little more useful: http://www.cpu-world.com/Sockets/Socket%20479%20(mPGA479M).html (you will need to copy+paste that link, from "http" to its end, ".html")

That will give you some background and technical info on the socket that the laptop currently uses. Your biggest obstacle may be the system firmware. Other CPUs will physically fit the socket, but some will not be electrically compatible, or they will not be supported by the motherboard's system BIOS. Resolving what the BIOS supports and what it does not support will be a matter of research, or trial and error.

If you hit a road block with the BIOS, you may be able to refer to this site for some information (there is also a forum...
Hi there, TeacherGuy.

You didn't actually ask a question. Are you seeking help in how to perform the upgrade? Or what CPUs the laptop will support?

In the meantime, here is a site that may help you with CPU information (the link contains the CPU you listed in your OP): http://www.cpu-world.com/CPUs/Pentium_Dual-Core/Intel-Pentium%20Dual-Core%20Mobile%20T3200%20LF80537GF0411M.html

Be aware that even if another CPU fits the laptop's socket, the laptop's firmware may not support the upgrade.

I hope that helps. :)
