See the problem is I connected the speakers in the rear jack and they are being detected as headphones not as speakers. I can't find drivers for my speakers and I tried everything I know to fix them but no sound comes out of them. Here's a pic(http://imgur.com/StjnZ9c). Please please help me. Thanks in advance.

I have a Dell Optiplex 755. I have tried Dell website for drivers. No audio driver is for Vista 64 bit but I downloaded the audio driver for Windows Xp and ran it but it gives an error that the hardware is not compatible. I tried running in compatability mode too. no help there too.

No these speakers warranty expired a month ago and I tried these speakers with my mp3 player and they were working. They just don't work since I upgraded to windows 8 they worked fine in windows 7.

I noticed a strange thing today I connected my speakers to the front jack the cross appeared in the taskbar icon of sound. I connected the speakers to the rear jack cross went but headphones icon appeared no sound so I connected mobile hand free to the front jack they were working. Then I tried connecting mobile hand free at the rear jack and speakers at the front speakers started working. But if I connect any of them separately they don't work. Hope you understand this jibber jabber.

Hello thanks for your help. I am using Zoltrixound SW-85 speakers (http://www.zoltrix.com/products/audio/8MMZXSW85.htm). I am using the desktop mobo with Core 2 Duo E4600. This is error I am getting when I am trying to install the drivers (http://imgur.com/JVuhE2f). Hope I can solve this prob I really starting to like windows 8 and have understood how to operate it I don't want to go back to windows 7 just cause of audio driver.

Well, it just could be that the sound chip on your mobo just doesn't support windows 8. Did you try downloading the link I sent you for the driver?

The speakers btw don't need a driver. It's the sound chip that needs a driver or maybe you haven't configured it correctly in windows and/or the sound chip software. Or it could be as simple as the port you're plugging in the speakers to isn't working...

The port is working it worked in windows 7 the link you send me my optiplex wasn't in the supported list :'( . I downloaded the link you sent me didn't work. Well I just have to roll back to win 7 and hope win 9 have better hardware compatibility. Or I could work like using the hand free at the rear jack and using the speakers from the front jack.

You do not need drivers for speakers and it doesn't matter if your computer detects the speakers as headphones, it outputs the same analogue signal regardless. If you can plug headphones into the same port and they work but your speakers don't, you have a set of broken speakers or a broken audio cable. Reinstalling Windows shouldn't be necessary, you will be able to manually download speaker drivers if your computer has not done so. Type "Device Manager" in the Start menu search bar and look under "Sound, video and game controllers". Your sound controller will probably be called "High Definition Audio Device", double click it, go to the Driver tab and click "Update Driver...". Windows should be able to download the driver automatically.

Also ensure you don't have anything plugged into the front port, the sound card likely has a hardware switch that prevents audio being outputted when the front port is in use.

I don't have broken speakers or audio cable. See the problem is i think is in the rear jack. When I connect speakers in the rear jack and if only then i connect hand free of mobile the hand free works. Or if I connect hand free in the rear jack and speakers in the front jack only then the speakers work. And if i separately connect head phones or speakers in any of the jacks neither of them works. Does the rear jack can be replaced. I have tried updating drivers too doesn't help windows say they are already updated. And first my internal speakers were working but for them I required the sound maxx driver but now since the driver can't be installed my internal speakers don't work too.
