You can get a middle of the road gaming Laptop for 1000 dollars. What games will you be playing and what kind of performance are you expecting?

I like bioshock infinite, skyrim, dragon age, fallout, crysis. I want to be able to play medium-high to high. I don't expect ultra settings.

These are all great suggestions; however, I do really enjoy 17.3' screens. The only one of these I can really consider because of that is the 17.3' MSI though it is not rated, and kinda sketchy to buy something for this much that hasn't been rated. Thank you for the rest of those suggestions though.

The new 860M will be the best option out of all in my opinion, if you're willing to spend the money.

Coming from personal experience, I had a laptop with a 17" screen and hated it, my current laptop is a Lenovo Y500 with a 15.6" screen and this is by far the best laptop I've ever had. Also by compromising on the screen size you can get a laptop with better specs.

Currently considering that 17.3 msi. It looks pretty great, and I really do like the size of the screen. I just wish I could read more reviews about it. I may end up getting it unless anyone has a better suggestion for around that price. That lenovo looks good and all, but just a smaller screen. I'm getting excited for my new pc.

The laptop literally just came out as Nvidia just announced their 8xx series mobile GPU a few days ago.
It's going to be very powerful.

I just read that the lenovo ran very hot after a while, and cooling pads are not always readily available. And Idontunderstand were you talking about the msi or the lenovo as having just been released? The lenovo sounds cool, but 15 inches is a little bit of a difference from 17.3 I guess maybe not that much, idk.

I always tell people that screen difference is nothing to be scared of, everyone get used to it. If people can watch movies on their tablet for days, why can't people do it on a 11.6" laptop? They never tried it so they would always want to be sure and get the bigger one 'just in case'. The fact is that, you probably won't be complaining about the screen size after you get used to using it for a week or so. It'll be like 'what? 15.6"? oh yeah it is. It's not that small'

Yeah, you are right. Screen size will probably be something I can adjust to. Damn so it's really down to that msi or lenovo. So the msi is a little more expensive, has a bigger screen, and is one of the newest releases. Then you have the lenovo which is thinner, lighter, cheaper, and appears to be pretty great. It's hard knowing which is the better choice, but it would appear that the consensus is that the best choice is one of these. Hmmmmm.

I would go where the money leads to, after all you can spend the money on something else, maybe for your desktop (or future desktop), or a phone, or something.

It's about future proofing. The MSI is just going to outperform the hell out of the Y510p, and the Y510p is going to run hotter. You're going to go further down the line with the MSI.

Construct, I'm confused. You had said earlier that the msi is not as good as the lenovo, but now you are saying the opposite?
