I don't know what are the qualifications for a good lap top, but I have a budget around $1000 and am trying to get the best bang for my buck. I am going to be starting college next fall and the laptop will be used for educational purposes as well, so keep that in mind please.

Go for the 860M maxwell gpu. I would say the Sager NP7378 would be a good option. Its just at the 1000 mark. The laptop is a bit thick... around 1.75-2". If you want a thinner laptop with those specs another option would be the MSI GE60/GE70 Apache Pro. Its about 1 1/4 inch thick but it starts at $1250. If your from california... i would recommend checking out www.powernotebooks.com . They are from Nevada so there isnt any sales tax and free shipping.
