I'd return the screen and get a new one. Usually the inverters are in the LCD panel, and if you aren't a qualified technician you will void your warranty by opening it.

Its a LED screen? Do they have LCD panels?
I am a qualified technician, I just don't normally deal with screens, but as its my own I refuse to pay more then product prices.

Hi, if the new screen has the same number as the old one, and the LED are not on, something on the motherboard is not giving the power to the LED.

I'm unsure if they have the same numbers on as the old one didn't have numbers on, But i bought this which says its for the same model.

The problem could be an incompatibility with the new screen, or the motherboard does not power the LED.

Okay, So is there anyway I can find out the number with out the screen, I know there are numbers on the back of the bezel behide where the screen goes? could that be in?

I don't think so, the number was on the screen itself. You said you are a qualified technician, what technical skills do you have?

Yes, a laptop is a portable computer, what I mean is, can you measure voltages with a multimeter?

I can measure voltages and amperes with a DMM. Which I use to check to see if components are blown.
Look, I'm not a laptop specialist, but I have very good idea on what i am doing. My old screen did not have a sticker on the back of the screen, as previously stated. If there was a sticker I would of taken a photo of it.

I have put it back in the box now, the company said they are going to replace it. want me to get it back out and have a look?

I took it out anyways, the new screen number is LP173WD1(TL)(A1)

You said you can see a faint picture on the screen, but the backlight is off. You can measure the voltage powering the LED at the connector. You measure the pins 38,39,40, they are connected together, you should read between 7 and 20V depending of the brightness.

I cannot measure the voltage at the moment. I don't have my DMM to hand.
