Hey guys, i have this Acer Aspire 5755G laptop, that suddenly just stopped functioning normally. It got so slow that it took 5-10 min to open a browser and go to facebook, took 30 min to open League Of Legends, and so on. This happened from one hour to the other. It worked fine in the morning, then it did this in the afternoon when i turned it on again. I tried running it in safemode, deleting some stuff, tried restoring it to a previous point, and then when all that had failed, i took it to a local PC tech. He told me it was prolly just too much bullshit software, but that there was a chance of it being a harddrive error. He had it for 3 days, told me it was ready and that it had just been software, and that he would recommend me to reset the harddisk completely. He charged me 90 Euro. I went home only to find that almost nothing had changed, it still took me more than 10 min to open facebook, skype took 15, and i'm still waiting for League Of Legends. What should i do, does anyone have some advice for me? I feel ripped off, since litterally nothing has changed, and that guy is just sitting with my money.

Regards

No, you paid the guy too look at the computer and make sure all your hardware was working fine and then give you advice on how to fix the problem. If you don't want to take that advice, of course nothing will change.

Well if i do that, then i've litterally paid the man to do nothing, and then tell me to delete all my stuff

I do not know why your performance should have changed over time.
I think your tech may have taken advantage of you.

Possibly:
1. Your cooling fan has stopped or become clogged up.
2. You have malware or a virus.
3. Your hard drive is starting to fail. Replacing it with a SSD will be magic.

I kinda expected him to actually fix the problem, since that's his job. No advice is worth 80 Euro.

Well since fixing the problem involves wiping everything off your computer, him doing that without asking you would have been a bad idea.

That could be a posibility, but the fact is just that i don't see how that's gonna fix the problem. It came suddenly, i trusted him on it being a software problem. Turns out it wasn't, it ain't the harddrive either. If i then reset my harddrive and nothing happens, i haven't recieved jack for my money.

I am pretty sure that i can rule out virus/malware, the tech cleared everything out. I don't think it's the cooling either, since my pc isn't really that hot (even though the fan only runs occationally, but it's been like that for a year). The tech told me that he didn't find a hard drive error, so i really don't know what it is.

Thanks for the feedback! How did you solve the problem?
