I just bought a Samsung Smart TV (8000 series) second hand. Everything is working perfectly EXCEPT it will not connect to the internet through the wireless or LAN. What do I do?

I tried following the directions. It searches for it, and nothing.

Any Ideas?

Thanks for the reply, however, I don't believe that's it. The first thing I did was reset the television. I went through all the settings: searched for channels, set time and date, calibration, hand and voice controls, etc.

When I go to the Network Settings, I "start" the process to search for a wireless network. It takes about a minute "checking for wireless networks..." then goes back to the first step. Then I try to attaching an Ethernet cord and starting the process again. I get the same result.

Is there anything else I can do?

Hi I just went thru all of this stuff, comcast wouldn't help me so I had to go thru and manually put in all the network numbers myself. First of all I went to Menu on my samsung remote, and net work, Ip settings. To get your numbers, use your lap top, or pc, and click on start, type in, cmd-enter. then type in ipconfig/all-enter. All your numbers are there and now you everything should work. I sure hope this helps and write this in your users manual so that you have all the numbers you need.

Try setting the router's encryption algorithm to TKIP. This solved my Smart TV connection problem but TKIP did limit my network speed to 802.11G (54 Mbps). Since my ISP speed is about 11 Mbps, I saw no performance issues. Samsung needs to work on the the 802.11 N connection issues.

24th February 2015 ... TV Connects to Hub (Lan / WiFi) But not Internet.

Don't adjust your TV's as it is a Global Samsung Issue and Nothing wrong with your TV.
This affects all Smart TV's from Samsung, New or Old. I have done everything possible
from my end including flashing the firmware from Latest to Oldest and nothing solved.

I have spoken to several engineers at Samsung only to be fobbed off, hung up on, rudeness and arrogance.
Very poor customer support and service, my next Device will be Sony or LG or Apple.
I suggested for them to post some details on there [News and Alerts] page updating people of the issue
before they start messing with settings, routers, cables and ISP's and with a very poor response.

I finally spoke to an technical advisor and he told me the problem will be solved as soon as possible
and its nothing they can do as it is in the hands of the engineers. I asked if they had been hacked
and he became quite reluctant to answer so there we have it !! And guess what... The other day i paid
attention to the tedious constant updates of this smart hub and the Interface changed to Korean,
other Issues with Korean symbols in the TV's GUI. I suspect that we may all need to Update Firmware
soon.

I have checked around the internet in forums etc. and it seams to relate to Samsung Server Issues.
DNS issues and Hub Update Issues.

Conclusion: Don't change anything on your TV, Call Samsung and complain (UK 0330 726 7864)
The more complaints you make the more they will have to listen.

I had the same problem with my Samsung tv and tried the following:

1. Changing the DNS server to the default google 8.8.8.8 then to comcast default 75.75.75.75 and 75.75.76.76- This didn't work
2. Changed the parental controls- didn't work
3. Hard reset modem- didn't work
4. Reset tv to default- didn't work
5. Changed the security encryption of wifi to WPA-TKIP- didn't work
6. Tried connecting with ethernet cable- didn't work
7. Called comcast and they were absolutely no help
8. Finally chatted with samsung and they asked me the model # of my TV and then told me to set the DNS server to 151.80.14.237 and it worked. Not sure if this will work with all samsung TV's or if you have to find out what you need for you particular model number but as soon as i put that in it worked. It was amazing.

I have a Samsung smart TV model no. UN60D8000 I was on the Samsung Website checking to see if any firmware updates were released to resolve the issue and a samsung live chat popped up, so I asked the question there and got it resolved.
I hope this helps, I followed these steps and I am up and running. On you remote do the following.
1. Click Menu
2. Network
2. Network Status (wait for it)
3. IP Settings
4. Change DNS server mode to manual from obtain automatically and enter
208-67-222-222 as the DNS server and press Enter.
5. Now select ok and TV should show connected status.

Thats it I hope this helps.

Hi there, thanks so much for this fix! I have a 2012 Samsung Series 7003 LED Smart TV and it would not connect to the internet today. I went through the same routine as the others, then finally found your tutorial and the manual DNS code. It worked like a champ. Thanks again!

Hi I have a Samsung ue46d8000 and a Samsung 8000 curved.
We were on Sky but the Internet was rubbish and are now on high speed Virgin.
The curved TV is amazing and everything works perfectly.
The ue46d however doesn't. There is no app for Netflix when trying to go online the browser will not connect even though on network settings it says it is connected.
Have reset the smart hub? Factory reset in the TV etc etc all to no avail. Even brought the TV downstairs and hard wired it into the modem still nothing. There is a link with Netflix house of cards on the smart hub I click it it takes me to the app page with all the categories but there is no Netflix app there?
BBC I player and itv player worked?
I'm stumped!

Hi crnorakija.

Have you by any chance found a solution for your problem because I have exactly the same problem with my 8000 series and have tried everything on every site possible.

Oh. After all I went through!

My son was trying to help me (from another city) and when I went to MENU - SUPPORT - etc. to get the model number, I saw UPDATE APPS (somewhere) and it was set to AUTO, but I figured - what the heck!

It took about 5 minutes, turned itself off and back on.

Works fine!

So, why didn't somebody suggest that when I called??!

I work in IT and I'm tech savy, I've literally tried everything.

Apparently, the problem come from a faulty internet Adapter, more info here:
http://www.avsforum.com/forum/166-lcd-flat-panel-displays/1469029-help-internal-wi-fi-mysteriously-stopped-finding-wireless-signals-during-scanning-samsung-un46es7500.html

Now, I just got on the phone with Samsung, they refuse to replace the part for free as it is there fault and are well aware of it, I'm furious and disappointed as I was a huge fan of their product but il look like they don't give a damn anyway.

I just ordered the part from ShopJimmy: http://www.shopjimmy.com/samsung-bn59-01148c-wi-fi-module.htm
It cost me around $40 in part, will take around 15 min to replace.

After having had 7 phone/tablets, 3 Smart TVs and 2 fridges from them, Samsung can say goodbye to me as a customer, I'm going to switch to LG.

Hi I'm an AT&T technician. I was called out on a repair ticket because my cx was having the same issue. I told her it had to be the tv but of course because of the message on the tv she said we need to fix. I enjoy solving problems so I was determines to fix it. I ran an ether net line directly to the tv and still no good. What ended up fixing the issue was like someone suggested earlier was to take an update. It wouldn't take the update on wireless. Once the update was completed all of the functions came back on and we were actually able to connect wireless again. So try that and you should be good to go.
