My Toshiba Satellite laptop double spaces about a third of the time

If I am not careful, about a third of the time I strike the spacebar with my right thumb results in a double space. I have turned down the sensitivity but to no avial. I called Toshiba and they quoted me a price to replace the entire keyboard. Would it be possible to replace just the spacebar?

I'm not sure if you changed something else, but have you tried change the repeat delay?

I did. I slowed the repeat rate and changed the repeat delay to long. It seems that the double space tends to occur more often the nearer to the right edge the spacebar is struck.

There should be a test button as you're adjusting the repeat delay bar, see if there's even a difference as you're adjusting it. If there's no difference then it's just time for that space bar to go back to space. However they will be other solutions after you can confirm that it's broken.
