I have a Lenovo Y410P with an Ultrabay. Can I use an Ultrabay Caddy for an SSD? I would like to utilize the Ultrabay slot by using an Ultrabay Caddy so I can add an SSD. Would it work? I don't really need an optical drive, so I am just gonna use it to place an SSD. I'd appreciate any feedback. Thanks.

Thanks for your feedback. I am thinking about purchasing the 840 Evo SSD as well. I am just not entirely sure if I should purchase the 250 GB or the 120 GB model. I checked the benchmark for both, and they're about the same in speed. What do you suggest? Also, when you installed your SSD in the Ultrabay, was your BIOS able to read the drive?

The performance of both drives will be the same so it's only a matter of how much space you need. I got the bigger one because I mostly play WoW which uses a good 30GB of storage, plus another 30 from the SO you have half the disk filled and I prefer to have room for another programs as well.

As for the BIOS, I didn't had any issues, I just had to access it in order to be able to boot the computer from an USB stick to do a fresh install of Win 7 on the SSD and set it as the primary drive.

Thanks. Is it possible to install a second graphics card via Ultrabay? Because I have researched and I can't any removable graphics to install in the Ultrabay. I am thinking about adding a 750M, so I can have two 750Ms.

This particular one states it's for the Y500 series. Would this work for the Y410P? http://shop.lenovo.com/SEUILibrary/controller/e/web/LenovoPortal/en_US/integration.workflow:productDisplayItem?IsBundle=false&GroupID=460&Code=0C65964&sb=:000001CC:0000574A:&hide_menu_area=yes&cid=us:cse:WR5MjN:ca|Amazon|0C65964&CA_6C15C=600003960000004228#learnMore

Hi,

I checked the link you attached, and it says the caddy is SATA 1.5Gbps or SATA I? The Samsung 840 Evo's interface is SATA 6Gbps or SATA III. That means if I use the caddy, the SSD will only run at 1.5Gbps max, right?

The caddy just works as a bridge, it has no bearing in performance.

That said, as far as I know the Ultrabay interface is SATA2 and the primary drive one is SATA3 so the most gain will be obtained by switching the HDD to the Ultrabay and put the SSD inside but I didn't bother to do so on mine.
