I think I messed something up.

I just got a new headset got it all hooked up and working. I decided I wanted to check my onboard sound to see if I liked it needless to say I didnt. I unplugged it and put it back into my sound card and now I cant get any sound at all.

You just have to change the default sound device in Windows.

I did.....I can even see the sound bar moving on the one I have selected and still nothing

Make sure the sound isn't muted.

I hesitate to say this but have you tried turning the PC off and then back on again.(Always wanted to say that)
Unplug the headset first,then plug in when the PC has restarted.
